Kazuo Hiramatsu is a professor of accounting at Kwansei Gakuin University, Japan, and also a member of the Science Council of Japan. He is serving as the acting president of the Japanese Association for International Accounting Studies and a director (international relations) of Japan Accounting Association. He is a member of the Business Accounting Deliberation Council of the Financial Services Agency of the Japanese government and a member of the Accounting Standards Board of Japan. He served as the secretary and the vice president of IAAER, as well as an International Council member of AAA. He was the president of Kwansei Gakuin University during 2002-2008, and was a visiting scholar at the University of Washington (Seattle, USA, 1977-79), and a visiting professor at the University of Glasgow (Scotland, U.K., 1991). His research interest is in financial accounting and international accounting. His English publications include Accounting and Financial Reporting in Japan, which was co-edited with Professor Frederick D.S. Choi. In 2005, he received the Outstanding International Accounting Educator Award of the International Accounting Section of AAA.
