Previts is the E. Mandell de Windt Professor, Weatherhead School of
Management, Case Western Reserve University. He is co-author A
History of Accountancy in the United States and is editor of
Research in Accounting Regulation. He has served as a
member of the AICPA Board of Directors and conducted research for
the AICPA Special Committee on Financial Reporting (Jenkins) and the
FASB’s Business Reporting Research Project. He is a member of the
Accountability Advisory Council of the U. S. Government
Accountability Office and President of the American Accounting
Association. Currently Previts serves as a member of the Advisory
Committee on the Auditing Profession of the U.S. Department of the
Treasury and chairs the subcommittee on Human Resources. In
October 2007 he received the AICPA’s Gold Medal for service. Gary
and his wife Fran have four adult children and six grandchildren and
reside in Rocky River, Ohio.
