Alfred Wagenhofer is full professor and chair of the Institute of Management Accounting and Control and chair of the Center for Accounting Research at the University of Graz, Austria. He earned his Magister degree and Doctor degree at the University of Vienna, Austria. He was assistant professor at the University of Technology, Vienna, where he also received his Habilitation. Professor Wagenhofer is a professor at the European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management, Brussels. He has been visiting the University of British Columbia, University of Vienna, London School of Economics and Political Sciences, and University of Sydney. 

Professor Wagenhofer served as President of the European Accounting Association in 1997/98 and as Vice President-International of the American Accounting Association in 2005-2007. He is President-Elect of the Verband der Hochschullehrer für Betriebswirtschaft, a board member of the Schmalenbach-Gesellschaft für Betriebswirtschaft (Germany), a member of the Austrian Financial Reporting and Auditing Committee, and the Austrian Working Group on Corporate Governance. 

His research interests include financial and management accounting, and international accounting. He authored and co-authored seven books, and his research appeared in major international journals, including Abacus, EAR, JAE, JMAR, MAR, and TAR; and in the leading German journals Betriebswirtschaftliche Forschung und Praxis, Die Betriebswirtschaft, Zeitschrift für Betriebswirtschaft, and Zeitschrift für betriebswirtschaftliche Forschung/Schmalenbach Business Review. Professor Wagenhofer is co-editor of the Zeitschrift für betriebswirtschaftliche Forschung/Schmalenbach Business Review, and he currently serves on the editorial boards of Abacus, CAR, EAR, JfB, JMAR, MAR, and RASt.
